From August 27th to 29th, 2025, a group of 30 young people from the town of Karlovo, led by Tsvetina Zakharlieva, head of the local Youth Center, visited the international festival in the twin town of Katerini, Greece, and went on an eco hike at the foot of Mount Olympus.
The international festival is held annually, and this year it was under the patronage of Bulgaria, which is why it concluded with a performance by the “Trakia” ensemble. The group received numerous ovations from the hundreds of Bulgarian tourists in the Greek resort town. Earlier in July, Karlovo’s own “Rose Valley” ensemble also participated in the festival.
The youth had the opportunity to go on an eco hike, which began with a visit to the Information Center of the Mount Olympus National Park in the town of Litochoro. There, they learned that the highest peak of Olympus – Mytikas (2,918 m) – is just a few centimeters lower than Bulgaria’s highest peak, Musala (2,925 m).
The visit was a reward from the Mayor of Karlovo Municipality, granted through the municipality’s Youth Program, for participants in the “Young Entrepreneurs” 2024–2025 initiative, as well as for active youth volunteers who organize events for the local community.
