Thanks to the support of the Anna Lindh Foundation and its programme “ALF in Motion” the Egyptian expert on women’s political participation- Mr. Adel Ahmed took part in the “Women’s Forum 2024” organised by the “Youth and Civil Initiatives in the Rose Valley” NGO from the Bulgarian ALF Network. The forum was organized with the support of the Bulgarian Women’s Fund under their programme “Mission Possible” and the project “Birds in BG” co-funded by the European Union. Over 50 women at leadership positions, women mayors, local councilors and businesswomen from three municipalities in Bulgaria (Karlovo, Sopot and Zlatitsa) took part in the Forum discussing women’s situation in politics, women in the army, women in sport and women and art. The Egyptian expert presented the challenges women face in the Arab world as well as the successful and pioneer women of Egypt. Mr. Adel Ahmed had meetings with local project development, culture and education experts, visiting the renovated “Kurshum” Mosque (the oldest building in Karlovo) and other local cultural-historical sites contributing to the intercultural, interreligious and EuroMed dialogue. The “ALF in Motion” Programme is a great opportunity for exchange of expertise, strengthening partnerships, improving the intercultural and interreligious dialogue among organisations from both sides of the Mediterranean and implementing follow-up projects with big local and regional impact.
