On September 14, representatives of the Ivan Vazov-2014 Community Centre took part in the first meeting of the new Public Council.
For them, this participation is an opportunity to bring their experience of working with the local community into a broader institutional dialogue.
Among the topics they will raise are:
- support for parents and children;
- prevention of domestic violence;
- digital literacy;
- access to culture;
- the role of community centres as active civic spaces.
In September, our colleagues from the Ivan Vazov-2014 Community Centre launched an initiative providing emergency support to parents, guardians and caregivers of preschool- and school-age children living in the Poduyane district.
The support is intended for families facing a specific and urgent expense related to the start of the school year, which they are unable to cover on time and for which they do not receive support through another programme.
The initiative is part of the project “Family Round Table – Conversations About Us, With Us”, implemented by the Ivan Vazov-2014 Community Centre in partnership with P.U.L.S. Foundation.
Also in September, follow-up work continues on their proposals for more accessible summer childcare. The proposals have already been submitted to Sofia Municipality, the Sofia Municipal Council and the Poduyane District administration.
The aim is to organise a broader working discussion in the autumn, bringing together institutions, schools, community centres, libraries, sports organisations, parents and representatives of civil society.
