A Concert in Honor of the UN World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW)

Once again, the Eastern European Forum for Dialogue – Bridges marks the World Interfaith Harmony Week, a time to recognize the essential need for dialogue between different faiths and religions. As affirmed in the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 65/5 (Session 34, October 20, 2010), this week is dedicated to fostering understanding and collaboration across communities. Through dialogue, we seek to address the shared challenges of our time, nurture peaceful coexistence, and unite people of diverse beliefs, cultures, and backgrounds in standing against extremism, intolerance, and efforts to silence the spiritual voice in society.

We are deeply honored that in 2024, our concert “Gift of Love” was awarded the prestigious First Prize of the World Interfaith Harmony Week by His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan. This distinguished award, along with a gold medal, was presented to us by His Royal Highness Prince Boris Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. This recognition is given to those initiatives that inspire understanding, promote dialogue, and build lasting cooperation between the world’s religions. It was the first time such an honor was bestowed upon a European organization, and it drives us to continue our work with even greater passion and commitment, building bridges of peace and tolerance for the future.

MAGNIFICENT Bridges of Light will take place on February 17, 2025, in the heart of Sofia, beneath the glorious arches of the Baroque-inspired Concert Hall at the Central Military Club. The evening promises to be a celebration of both beauty and unity, under the esteemed patronage of H.E. Mrs. Andrea Ikic-Böhm, Ambassador of the Republic of AustriaHis Royal Highness Prince Boris Saxe-Coburg-Gotha will join us as a special guest. We are celebrating the World Interfaith Harmony Week and also marking the 200th anniversary of the birth of Johann Strauss, whose works, although belonging to the Romantic era, are often associated with the Baroque style due to their intricate rhythms and elegance. His waltzes and polkas, with their refined melodies, carry a spirit of unity, reflecting the purpose of this week – to promote harmony and connection across religions, cultures, and beliefs.

The Baroque vision of the spectacle promises to transport the audience to an era of elegance and harmony, as talented over 40 young performers from different religious traditions will unite their voices and skills to deliver a message of peace, understanding, and light.
