The member of Anna Lindh Foundation “Casa Mediterráneo”, Spain, has a call for guitar players between 18 and 25 years of age born or naturalised in any country of the Mediterranean arch. The countries called are: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Cyprus, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine (Gaza Strip), Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. Candidates born between 1st January 1998 and 31st December 2004 will be accepted.
The documents must be submitted between 3rd July 2023 at 00:01 am and 1st September 2023 at 11:59 pm. The only way to register is to send the required documents to the following e-mail address: premiodeinterpretacion@casa-mediterraneo.es The incorrect, incomplete, illegible or falsified reception of the documents will be an immediate cause for rejection.
DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED FOR REGISTRATION:
Registration form. Copy of ID or passport stating the place of birth (or naturalisation) in any of the following countries: Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Cyprus, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine (Gaza Strip), Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco. Motivation letter written by the candidate (maximum 250 words). Biography (maximum 250 words).
PDF document with the link and password to the private YouTube session to watch the recording. The pieces performed in the recording must also be mentioned in the PDF. The recording must include a maximum of 7 minutes where the candidate to the prize can be perfectly seen and heard, performing at least two extracts of different pieces, showing the candidate’s qualities. Recordings that do not meet the minimum sound and visibility quality requirements will automatically be rejected.
COMMUNICATION OF FINALISTS:
The organisation will only get in contact with the three finalists to announce their status to them. Said communication will take place between 26th and 29th September. In case they do not confirm in writing by e-mail their participation in person for the Prize within 48 hours after notification, the organisation will reject the candidacy and get in contact with a reserve.
Once the three finalist participants have been confirmed, a draw will take place of each of the three compulsory pieces that will be performed in the final concert, as well as the participation order of said final concert.
REPERTOIRE:
In the final concert, each performer will play a piece of their own free choice for solo guitar between 3 and 8 minutes long, and one of the following concertos for guitar and string orchestra accompanied by the Ensemble Casa Mediterráneo:

REHEARSALS AND CONCERT:
Each candidate will have two rehearsals of a maximum of 45 minutes each with the Ensemble Casa Mediterráneo conducted by its chief conductor, Ignacio García-Vidal, on Saturday 25th November. One rehearsal will take place in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The shorthand of the Ensemble Casa Mediterráneo will be of 3-3-2-2-1.
Before the concert each candidate will have a short sound test of a maximum of 10 minutes. The concert will take place at Casa Mediterráneo at 12 pm.
TRAVELLING EXPENSES:
All travelling and subsistence expenses will be met by participants
JURY:
The Jury of the PIMCM will be made up of three professionals of proven ability in the field of teaching, performance and/or guitar research. Furthermore, there will be figures with voice and no vote of the Jury’s institutional president and the conductor of the Ensemble Casa Mediterráneo.
The institutional presidency of the Prize corresponds to the General Management of Casa Mediterráneo, who will have voice but no vote.
