In the period September 28-29, 2024 Youth Information Center- Karlovo organizes self-defense training for girls. The training was held in support of the campaign “Not one more” for the prevention of violence against women and is organized with the support of the Bulgarian Fund for Women under the “Mission Possible” program, thanks to the “Birds in BG” project, co-financed by the European Union.
The training took place in the hall of “Eva Dance and Sport Studio” under the guidance of sensei Rumen Dimitrov – professional martial arts trainer with 4th dan Yamashita Shorin Ryu Karate and former law enforcement officer.
The training was divided into a theoretical and a practical part.
The practical training with advice to the young girls on how to be prepared for possible aggression and attacks, what places to avoid, how to react to grabs was extremely useful. All those attending the training were very satisfied with the training. Also, the girls were encouraged to be active citizens and report if they witness an incident of violence or aggression against someone at home, on the street or at school, because this could save someone’s life.
More such trainings should be offered to all girls and women to learn basic knowledge and skills that can save their lives in a certain situation.
