On 2 of June, which was the last day of the European week for physical activities and sports MOVE Week 2024, the “Youth and Civil Initiatives in the Rose Valley” – Karlovo organized the sports event “Together for green sport” in partnership with sports club “K-1”-Karlovo.
The event was part of the project “Go Green in Sport”, financed by the European Union under the “Erasmus+” program and aims to increase the environmental culture of sports clubs, their members, fans, children and young people.
With themed games and giveaways, organizers encouraged recycling, reduced plastic use and keeping sports fields and playing areas clean. The children and youth played sports, had fun and received special medals prepared by the sports club to remind them of the importance of playing sports and uniting around the green cause. And, for the sports club, there was also a portable bin in which all those exercising in the club hall could collect plastic bottles, which they would then hand over for recycling.
The participants received green T-shirts and gifts from the French volunteers of “EuropRaid”, which the “Youth and Civil Initiatives in the Rose Valley” will welcome again this year around the International Youth Day.
After the end of the sports event, the organizers also joined the “Books for Trash” campaign, handing over plastic bottles that they collect during all their events. This is how they received for the library of the Youth Center from the set of books for children by famous Bulgarian and foreign authors.
